It’s really hard to choose a wedding photographer for your wedding when you’re picture shy. The reality is there are many people that are very shy when it comes to taking pictures. They don’t feel as though they take pictures very well, and when it comes to taking pictures, it’s very hard to smile, make an expression, or present them-selves in a way that is natural. If you feel that you fall under this category, this will be all the more reason to choose a professional Perth wedding photographer that is an accredited member of AI PP.
An experienced professional wedding photographer has been trained with the ability to handle situations where individuals are not particularly fond of taking pictures on a regular basis. Many times these individuals do not like to be the center of attraction and would rather not take pictures if they can avoid it. But this is a wedding day, this is a special event and these situations only come around once in a lifetime. In this case, considerations will have to be made in choosing the correct wedding photographer for your wedding that will make all the difference in the world.
The right wedding photographer will work with you and give you direction; they will take into consideration your feelings about being in front of the camera and make you feel comfortable and relaxed so your pictures will come out more natural and professional. The direction in many cases is to simply make you feel calm in front of the camera, which will allow the photographer to get all the shots that are needed for your wedding album. In many cases people that are shy in front of the camera choose a certain type of wedding photography.
Other types of photography other than traditional wedding photography can help in these cases, and allow you to be more natural and un-aware of the professional photographer’s presence. In order for this process to work effectively it is very important to get your photographer in on your planning stages early in the process. Choosing your professional Perth wedding photographer can make all the difference as long as they are included in your plans from the beginning stages.
So you are about to have the most important day of your lives. A wedding, that beautiful day we all dream of one day happening. You want, and should have, this day to be perfect. There is so much planning and organising to do. After you have picked your perfect partner the most important thing is the wedding photographer. They say “a picture is worth a thousand words” and what yours says depends on the photographer that you hire. Choosing someone from Perth or anywhere else is the same process.
Probably the best place to start is with family and friends, people whose opinions you trust. If you know a recent newlywed this is also a perfect choice. Everybody knows someone so hopefully they will have someone to recommend. You may also check your local newspapers and phonebook. The internet is also a great place to start as you can do this from home. Keep in mind this wedding will only happen once, so you only have one chance to capture the moment. So it is crucial you find the best photographer to capture your special occasion. Personally I would only choose a professional with good credentials. If they are an AIPP member this is even better. The only way to go with a non-professional is if referred by friends or family. Yet be very careful to check their work.
When you have found a few that you are interested in now is the time to interview them. Be prepared when you go to see them. Have a list of questions ready to ask as well as they style and designs you want. Make sure to get a complete look of their work. Not just a few pictures you want to see a full wedding shoot. Get a feel for the photographer and his ideas and suggestions. Keep in mind he has done this before and may be able to assist you with the ideas you have. As helpful as they may be, and a good photographer will be, it is your day and you should have what you want.
Then you need to discuss prices. Make sure you get this all in writing. Please do remember to ask about negatives and proofs, many forget this. Don’t rush your decision; tell them you will get back to them once you make a decision. Then talk to your future spouse and with all your information make your decision. May your day be everything it should be.
Most brides don’t know what to expect when hiring a wedding photographer in Perth because they usually don’t have experience picking out photographers for big events. The most important thing to expect is that the person you hire will be the one taking the photos. You should also expect the style of photography you want will be the style you get. You should expect your photographer to have a certain level of experience.
Sometimes when you sign a contract to hire a photographer the studio can send out anyone who is available that day to take the photos. You want to make sure the person whose portfolio you saw will be the same person taking your pictures for your wedding. Also you need to know upfront if they will be working with an assistant and if so you need to know if it will cost extra.
There are different types of photography styles. You may not like every type of style. You should be able to expect that whatever style you tell the photographer you want your photos to be that will be the style they have. You can learn what style you like by looking at different bridal magazines.
You should expect your photographer to have a certain level of experience. You don’t want to hire someone who doesn’t have much experience because this is one of the most important days of your life. They should have a portfolio of other events they’ve been hired for. You should be able to tell by the type of photos they have what your photos will most likely look like.
These are a few things you can expect when hiring a wedding photographer in Perth. Also an important thing to remember is you get what you pay for. If you don’t pay much don’t expect much quality. Once you sit down with your photographer and tell them what you expect on your wedding day everything should run smoothly for everyone.
Just wanted to let you know that I’ve launched Wedding Darkroom and it will now have a steady flow of content on what do and how to do it as wedding photographer.
I shot a wedding at Munja Gardens in Karnup (near Mandurah, Perth). The couple Kerry and Ryan were just great to deal with on the day. They only had the wedding ceremony at Munja Gardens, and their wedding reception was at Kerry’s parent’s house on a farm in a marquee, which was just beatifully set out and decorated.
Their Munja Gardens wedding ceremony was conducted with perfection by Brooke Tonev.
Their wedding cars were Old 55 Chevrolet Limos, from Old 55 Limos operated by John. What an amazing wedding car, if you want a classic car for your wedding, this must be in the top 3 of selections.
Here are some of their wedding photos from Munja Gardens (Karnup).
I did a wedding for Farzaana and Simon, where they had their wedding reception at The Royal Fresh Water Yacht Club. This wedding reception venue in Perth is just magnificent. Not only are the views spectacular, but the service and food quality is awesome.
As a wedding photographer I get the privilege not only to share an amazing day with a bride and groom, but also visit some amazing locations. I went to Vanuatu recently to shoot a wedding for Roza and Andreas.
This short wedding video is the “Getting Ready” part of their wedding day. More wedding slide shows coming
For a wedding photographer in Vanuatu, please fill out my Wedding Photographer Inquiry form and I’d be happy to discuss your wedding plans.
Also, with each destination wedding, we’ll do a Trash the Dress session too.
